Depending on the opponent, it might be worth betting once on the flop here. He might have cold-called something like QQ or JJ. Calling the turn is OK ehre but you're playing guessing games on the river. A flop bet will normally tell you where you're at.

I agree. Betting the flop tells him you're not particularly concerned about the ace while a check says you're very concerned. Also if you do the betting, you can set your price while checking lets him set it. You'd have had to call $15 to get the same information you'd get if you led out for $8.
